She the People is strengthening the political power of women of color in Virginia by hosting the She the People Virginia Town Hall on Saturday, May 18, 2019. The Town Hall will take place at Virginia Union University, a historically black college and university located in Richmond, VA. As a Southern swing state, Virginia is a key state to watch, both driving and mirroring the national political trajectory. Virginia voters are showing a new direction for America, working towards a more inclusive, reflective and just democracy. Women of color are the core constituency that ushered in a “blue wave” in the recent midterm elections, and will play a vital role in Virginia’s 2019 statewide primaries and elections. The Town Hall will focus statewide attention on issues central to the lives and communities of women of color: racial, economic, gender, and social justice issues.
