Join She the People + Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib to discuss how COVID is reshaping Michigan, the politics of what’s possible, and what comes next.

On Wednesday, September 16, Aimee Allison of She the People will moderate a conversation with Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and women of color leaders in Michigan about economic security, economic justice issues, and what this could mean for the 2020 Election.

Michigan is a key battleground state and after being a Democratic stronghold, Trump won this state. In 2016, an estimated 200,000 women of color in Michigan did not vote, which far exceeded Trump’s 10,000-vote victory gap. Now, with the COVID-19 and racial crises and devastating economic downtown, a great opportunity exists to flip Michigan from red to blue in November if women of color are motivated to vote.

What: She the People moderates Q&A discussion with Michigan women of color about their experiences and economic justice.

“Women of color in Michigan are the margin of victory, and these grassroots leaders that can ensure a blue wave for Democrats are pushing elected leaders to address the most pressing issues the country faces,” said She the People Founder and President Aimee Allison. “Elections don’t win themselves, and with women of color in the lead, voters can be inspired toward taking action toward a shared, prosperous, and peaceful future for the country.
